Walk to School Week
campaign gets around
Project type: Graphic design / advertising
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgesire
Why Design was commisioned by Peterborough City Council to create an advertising campaign for Walk to School Week.
Working closely with Lisa Alexander in the Road Safety Department, we sketched initial concepts based on the brief provided.
“...The poster should be bright, fun and targeted at 4-11 year olds and their parents and based on the theme – ‘Walk to School on a Banana’ (children replace the energy used on their journey to/from school with a piece of fruit).”
Each concept [2/3] provided interest for both the child and the parent, using bold colour, cartoon characters, an interesting headline or ´play´ on a familiar scenario and therefore attracting either audience.
“Del rose to the challenge splendidly, producing
a brilliant poster on time and within our budget. We would certainly look
to use Why Design again in the future.”
{Lisa Alexander}
The poster [4/5] was placed around the city centre and helped create awareness for what was a very successful campaign.
