Looking good
Project type: Graphic design / branding
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgesire
Why Design was commissioned to design an identity for a new and exciting opticians opening in Peterborough city centre.
Whilst ‘The Oculist’ intended to position itself as a professional opticians and designer eyewear boutique, it aspired to transform a typically mundane purchase into a fun, vibrant and enjoyable experience for its customers.
Gerry Sondh, the managing director and optician was very enthusiastic about his project and so was involved at each creative stage. The identity needed to present a professional image for their business but also needed to work in a retail environment, reflecting their shop´s values of style, professionalism and fun.
We explored a number of options, looking at contemporary typefaces, representations of eye wear and optical illusions [2/3/4/5]. The initial designs were so well received Gerry found it very difficult to settle on one idea. Therefore, we developed a selection of the ideas further [6/7/8], looking at a complete set of stationery, signage and promotional items. This helped Gerry to better understand how the branding translated to a variety of uses, which enabled him to make the final decision.
“It has been an absolute pleasure working
with you. All the team at The Oculist are delighted with what you have
helped create. We all look forward to working with you in the future.”
{Gerry Sondh, Managing Director, The Oculist.}
The finished job consisted of logo artwork and guidelines, business cards, letterhead digital template. In-store prescription and appointment cards, window graphics and sign, plus a website holding page.
