We're always improving: Our recent updates

Version v1.7 update: 10.11.11

Bug fixes

  • Fixed some issues with the tab links in the catalogue admin section not linking to the correct pages under certain circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where gallery images could not be deleted.
  • Linksites banners in the administration area have been updated to point to our new hosting server.
  • Show file/image link - fixed a bug that sometimes chopped off the end of the link.
  • Image links in site content areas no longer have an unsightly border.
  • Extraneous 'caching' code was removed from secondary menu page images.
  • When deleting a page, the title was not being released to the friendly url system, meaning that creating a new page with the same title as the deleted page was also creating a new url rather than using the original one. This issue has now been fixed.
  • Contact page 'registered details' section now renders carriage returns correctly.

Contact page

  • Contact page 'registered details' line spacing has been decreased to better suit the smaller font size.
  • Contact page - there are now two checkboxes at the end of the contact form to allow enquirers to specify whether they'd like to receive further information by phone or email. Site administrators can disable these checkboxes entirely on the Contact Administration page - in this case, enquirers will be automatically flagged to receive further contact.

Plugins

  • The Mailing List link in the administration area has been moved to the new Plug-ins section (see 'New Features' below).
  • Mailing List administration - removed the 'last visited' column from the summary table as it wasn't really relevant and was causing the table to bleed into the page border.
  • NEW Members Area plug-in
  • NEW Social Media plug-in

Linksites™ CMS

  • New administration section - Plug-ins

Version v1.6 update: 28.07.11

Linksites™ CMS

  • Changed the way hyperlinks to pages and images within your own website are treated in the Linksites™ CMS editorial columns. They are now automatically updated when the site is moved, for example, when transferring your site from one of our demo slots to the live server. Previously this had to be done manually, one link at a time.
  • Updated the admin 'Help' page to account for these changes.
  • Removed all administration options to 'Publish to test' as this functionality is no longer relevant.
  • The 'delete category' option has been changed so that you cannot delete a category while it has pages within it. This is to prevent the pages becoming 'lost' to the admin system if the category is deleted.

Usability

  • Main menu link arrow graphics now point downwards on rollover and sub menu expansion.

Search Engine Optimisation

  • NEW FEATURE - Image alt tags can now be specified within the Linksites™ CMS. Using keywords in your alt tags can help with search engine optimisation. Gallery images have an 'alt title' field within the main image upload/edit screen. Content images are handled a little differently as they are not tied to specific pages in your site. Instructions on how to ad alt titles to your content images can be found by clicking the style palette help button
  • When a page title is changed, hyperlinks created within your editorial columns are also updated to match the new page url. Note that only the link code is updated, not the text that is visible to site users.
  • A time stamp value is no longer appended to the names of uploaded files. Naming files appropriately before uploading can help improve search engine optimisation. Please note that existing images or overriding existing images will still include a time stamp. To remove this completely you must delete the image from the Linksites™ CMS and upload a brand new image.

Social Media Support

  • Javascript tag has been added to the head tag to support upcoming Google +1 buttons

Bug Fixes

  • Uploading a new file or image now correctly overwrites the old version whilst retaining the file name. This means that any hyperlinks previously created in your editorial columns will no longer be broken after changing a file or image. For example, replacing a content image means it will automatically update in the page of your website.
  • Changed the order in which site style sheets are rendered to prevent conflicts with bespoke site styles.
  • Addressed the issue of the page white content area not running all the way down to the footer if the length of navigation is longer that the content area of the page.

Contact Page

  • NEW FEATURE - Editorial content is now fully customisable using the Style Palette. Two new editorial columns have been added with style palettes just like every other page. Company details have been grouped under the first editorial column and will appear as such on your published web page. The contact form will appear under the second editorial column. Including editorial columns removes restrictions on the information you can present on this page and because they support HTML you can, for instance, paste in the Google maps embed code, Facebook Twitter follow us buttons. IMPORTANT: users will need to update their current contact page headers by applying the 'subheading' style.
  • A new optional field has been added to the contact administration page to show your registered company info. This is displayed on the website contact page in the left hand column below your company address details.
